Wedding at The Mill at Yellow River - Megan + Jackson

Megan + Jackson

"We both grew up in Georgia and lived 30 minutes away from each other. But it would have been too convenient to meet that way. During the summer of our sophomore year we both took a trip with Harding University for a summer abroad in Florence, Italy. Jackson attends Lipscomb University so not a lot of people knew him at the beginning of the trip. As it would turn out, we ended up sitting next to each other on the plane ride over. Megan has a rule of not talking to strangers on planes, so we rode the whole way over to Italy without saying a word. As the summer started we ended up spending more and more time with each other and figured out that we knew a lot of the same people. We were lucky enough to travel all over eastern Europe together and share amazing memories!"

"Forever Like That- Ben Rector "

What was your first dance song?

"Wildfire- Ben Rector"

What was your father/daughter & mother/son dance song?

"The Way you Look Tonight- Frank Sinatra"

What was your cake cutting song?

"How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You"

How did you feel when you saw each other for the first time on the wedding day?

"Overwhelmed, excited, anxious, scared, and so many other emotions. Jackson is not good at hiding his emotions and he lost it. There was so much anticipation for this one moment in our lives and there it was. I wish we could capture and keep that moment forever."

What was the most memorable moment of the day?

"Megan- Our wedding day is such a blur. Everyone told me it would be, but I didn't really understand until after it was all said and done with. There was a moment before we were announced for the reception where we just had time to reflect on what just happened. We had an OH MY GOSH WE JUST GOT MARRIED! WE ACTUALLY DID IT! moment. I felt so much love and excitement and contentment in that moment. We had been dreaming and planning and stressing about this day for a while, so it was nice to just take that time with just him and reflect on it."

"Jackson- I really enjoyed all aspects of the wedding but my favorite moment was watching my bride walk down the aisle. I had been telling myself all week that I wouldn't let myself cry when I saw her but I couldn't hold back. She looked so amazing in her dress. The whole day felt like a blur but that is one part I'll never forget. I also enjoyed the send off of the wedding. It was fun running to the car and seeing all of my friends and family."

If you could do it all over again, would you change anything?

"No. There was wedding chaos that happened, but that happens with every wedding. We loved every second of it and wish we were still in that moment."

Do you have any advice to other brides & grooms?

"Plan in advance! We tried to make sure everything was done the week before the wedding so we could relax some and we accomplished that goal. It was nice to just be able to enjoy family and friends coming in and not be busy with wedding stuff."

We didn't see each other for three weeks before the rehearsal dinner. I was living in Georgia and Jackson in Nashville. It was a little weird and awkward to see each other after all that time in front of people. So have time to yourselves the day before. Talk about how your feeling and just anything really in your own private time. People are going to be in your face for the next 24+ hours. So have that alone time."

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

"Sandals Ocho Rios Jamaica."
